Louis Opländer and WILO
Louis Opländer started out building steam heaters, heat-exchangers and standardising equipment. As the market rapidly developed in the field of pumps, Louis Opländer branched into pump construction in 1952 and became known world-wide under the name ‘WILO’ – thus dividing Louis Opländer into two independent companies. Both regular and advanced training programmes and the expansion of both the customer service department and the technical office were regarded as promising investments for the future.
"Always looking to the future“– a principle which constantly inspires us to actively improve both the dynamic development of the future and our presence within it.
Louis Opländer was founded in 1872 as a copper and brass factory…
... and provided the continually growing drinks industry with high-value distillery equipment.
Shortly after the turn of the century, Louis Opländer developed a machine to standardise barrel size, which was equally as interesting for the barrel-making and beverages industries as it was for the Board of Weights and Measures. Following this start-up period, the company developed into one of the leading businesses in the field of central heating.
Through technological innovations, Louis Opländer GmbH and its prospering subsidiary, WILO, discovered new markets and business fields. These include, amongst others, cleaning systems for locomotives, showering facilities for miners and vacuum cleaning equipment for the middle classes.
WILO has since developed itself into a pioneer in the field of pumping technology for central heating systems.
